“My name is Or Bouskila, and I am a senior at Jewish Culture High School.I came to Jewish Culture back when it first opened in 2022, and that was the year my story of maturing truly began. These past three years have opened my eyes in ways I never would have imagined. Before I came to the school, I was very nervous and skeptical about its unique learning style. However, their system is one of the main things I ended up loving and appreciating about this school. This is because, here at JCHS, they prioritize hearing out the students and understanding us. You get treated like a true adult with responsibilities, and I can proudly say that this technique has given me a preview of the real world after high school.

For example, in my sophomore year, we took a class trip to Israel. This trip showed me how independent and mature we can be and how much trust JCHS has in us—whether it's letting us walk around the Shuk alone or even handing us money to buy food. The staff has a lot of faith and confidence in us. As time went on, I realized how I could express my passions here.

This is when I decided to start my passion project, Israel Explored, and begin a Film Club. Israel Explored is a YouTube channel and TikTok page that spreads accurate information about Israel in a short span of time. I started this project with a classmate of mine, Maya Horenstein. We knew that there were many pages online spreading false information about Israel. This gave us more of a drive to start making fun videos that also educate viewers.

Another passion I have always had is filming and editing—that's where Film Club comes in. I founded this club because I figured it would be a great opportunity to explore the art of video-making. In 11th grade, we started filming moments in school throughout the year. Towards the end of the year, we began editing and putting together a video. We made a documentary about the unique style of schooling JCHS provides and how this is the future of education.”
